Wireless charging for electric vehiclesA New Zealand company has launched wireless technology that allows parked or moving electric vehicles to charge automatically. Auckland UniServices Ltd and Ove Arup & Partners own UK based HaloIPT, which has produced IPT (Inductive Power Transfer) technology enabling vehicles fitted with a receiver pad to charge automatically when parked over transmitter pads buried into the ground. The press release gave no information on the frequencies the system would be using or any indication of how much radio interference they may cause.
