Amateur Radio club makes donation to stricken centre

An amateur radio club in Grantham, Lincolnshire, has made a donation of £170 to a community centre which is trying to get back on its feet.

Members of Grantham Amateur Radio Club handed the generous donation to Marie Gibson, chairman of the Trent Road Community Centre.

The money will be used to help re-open the centre, which closed several weeks ago after the committee realised its spiralling debts could not be repaid.

Marie said she was thankful to the amateur radio club for its donation.

She added: “It’s looking positive for getting the centre open again.”

A Facebook page has been launched to drum up support for fund-raising efforts. To find it, visit

Marie is keen to hear from anyone with fresh ideas on how to raise cash, and on how to encourage more use of the community centre.
