Regulatory framework for white space technology

The UK regulator Ofcom has published a consultation on white space technology, which works by searching for unused radio frequencies called 'white spaces' between TV channels to transmit and receive wireless signals.

The consultation sets out proposals on how to successfully launch the technology using a “geolocation” database and how new devices will be made available to consumers without the need for a licence.
