Additional 100kHz at 7MHz Soon?

Ofcom’s period of consultation on its proposal to vary the Foundation, Intermediate and Full amateur radio licences to permit UK amateurs to operate in the band 7100 to 7200kHz ends on 23 October.

The proposal is that the band would be allocated to the Amateur Service on a Secondary basis on the basis of non-interference to other services, inside or outside the United Kingdom. It is hoped that an announcement will be made soon after the end of the consultation about when the additional 100kHz of spectrum will become available to UK amateurs.

A link to the notification of the proposed change on the Ofcom website can be found on the RSGB site at www.rsgb.org

Amateurs wishing to comment on the proposal should do so by writing to Denise Carter, Ofcom, 2 - 130 Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 9HA or by e-mailing amateurcb@ofcom.org.uk to arrive not later than 23 October.
