ACA clarifies Standard Licence SSB mix-up

The ACA has drawn the WIA's attention to an article 'ACA Changes' in the August 2004 edition of Amateur Radio.

The ACA notes that the article, while commenting generally about some of the changes to be introduced following the Review of Amateur Service Regulation, states that Foundation licensees would be authorised to use SSB
in frequency bands where Standard licensees would not be similarly authorised.

While acknowledging that impression probably stems from wording used in the appendix to the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) paper 'Outcomes of the Review of Amateur Service Regulation', the ACA says that the impression that should have been conveyed by the appendix was that Standard licensees would be able to use the same emission modes as Foundation licensees as well
as the emission modes already permitted under the Novice licence.

The ACA has yet to consider in detail the emission modes that are appropriate to operation under a Standard licence in frequency bands above 450 MHz.
