Henry Andersson VK8HA - Silent Key

Sad news from Darwin. Henry Andersson VK8HA passed away Tuesday morning 5th October.

Henry was our IARU Intruder Watch Coordinator for many a year, the VK8 QSL Bureau officer and a life member of our WIA. A top CW operator was Henry, he will be sorely missed.

Until the formation of our National WIA, Henry's were the only regular contributions to QNEWS from what was then Federal WIA, We could always rely on his well prepared intruder reports reaching us every month!

National WIA Director Trevor Quick told us " Henry arrived from Sweden as a Maritime Radio Operator, married and settled down in Darwin, and worked for the ABC on the control desks.

We are told Henry's vehicle looked like a mobile radio station. Henry had made a key from the local shop switches and some chipboard. With this he was mobile and won the CW portion of a contest as he travelled.

Henry jokingly boasted that the audio section of his Collins was brand new, never been used, as was the microphone. The rest of the radio was well used.

Thank you Henry for your involvement in Amateur Radio, and your assistance to so many Amateurs both in Australia and overseas.

Rest in Peace ol' friend.

Trevor Quick WIA
