Expedition 12 settles in new home

Commander Bill McArthur, KC5ACR and Flight Engineer Valery Tokarev are getting used to their new home in space.

The Expedition 12 crewmembers are settling in after the previous station residents undocked and landed on Earth on 10th of October.

McArthur and Tokarev have been performing routine maintenance, exercising and conducting experiments.

The commander set up an experiment that junior high school students on Earth can control. Using the Internet, the students can control a station camera and photograph the Earth.

Over the next six months, Expedition 12 will be preparing for two spacewalks, relocating its Soyuz spacecraft from one docking port to another and readying the station for the arrival of a Progress cargo vehicle.
