SARL's Intecnet to feature lightning and surge protection

With the lightning season approaching and some of the devastating storms of the last season still in mind, the next Interactive Technical net, on the 23rd of October, will focus on lightning and surge protection. The guest speaker will be Warren Botten of Clearline who delivered an excellent presentation at this year's SARL Radio Technology in Action Open day.

During the last decade enormous advances in electronic technology have been made, bringing sophisticated electronic equipment into our homes. The microprocessor is now a standard building block in virtually all of these products but due to miniaturisation, these products are also susceptible to interference emanating from lightning and load switching.

A PowerPoint presentation will be available on the web a few days before the Intecnet. Watch the SARL website for details.

President's Net to report back on IARU Region 1 conference

The President Net, which precedes the Intecnet, will feature a report back from the recently held IARU Region 1 Conference. Join President Graham Hartlett. John Fielding and Dennis Green for a comprehensive report on Sunday 23 October at 19:00.

Clubs wishing to link their repeater for both the President Net and Intecnet should send an email to armi@sarl.org.za with details of the telephone number to be linked to the conference bridge. Due to technical constraints no cell phones or Telkom prepaid phones can be connected to the bridge.
