Mounbounce Contest this weekend

This weekend is the Moonbounce Contest. There will be some very high power stations so if you have a good sized antenna for 50, 144, 432 or 1296 MHz it'll be worth listening to see if you can detect any of the signals.

Moonbounce Contest this weekend

The ARRL International EME Contest is on this weekend 22/23 October, ie 0000UTC on Saturday to 2359UTC Sunday. This weekend operation will be on 50MHz through 1296MHz.

Any well equipped 2m station should be able to hear 2m signals on moonrise and moonset, moonrise being our window into USA and moonset the European window.

There will be some big stations operating who are capable of working small stations such as 100W and 12el yagi.
For example W5UN on 144.041 CW should be good copy.

Here in ZL the moon will be visible at the following times (based on Greymouth):

Saturday 22 October
moonrise 1250UTC Azimuth: 47 degrees (ie 1:50am Sunday NZ local time)
moonset 2045UTC Az. 314 degrees

Sunday 23 October
moonrise 1330UTC Az 48 degrees
Moonset 2145UTC Az 310 degrees

I will be operating on 2m, mostly using JT65b (digital) around 144.135 +- QRM

QST de W6IFE - OVRO Project

Hello Lunar types,

We are officially going to be on the air this weekend for EME
contacts on 1296.025Mhz.

We will be using the 140 foot dish at the Owens Valley
Radio Observatory and the club call of the San Bernardino Microwave Society, W6IFE.

We will be on at about 10:30pm PST. I will make an
announcement on these reflectors as soon as we are on, but take no schedules or use any assistance per the contest rules. We would also appreciate SWL reports as well.
QSL to K6JEY at the callbook address.

We will be on CW and SSB running 60 watts or so.

Doug K6JEY
