MORI report on amateur radio licensing

As part of its consultation on proposals to reform amateur radio licensing, Ofcom commissioned MORI to assess the views and opinions of a sample of Amateur Radio licence holders.

The survey was designed to inform Ofcom's policy making and complement the findings of the formal consultation process.

This survey was probably the most extensive ever, being sent to 4500 Radio Amateurs (8% of the UK total), they got 1572 responses.

Its primary purposes was to acess attitudes to changing the UK licensing system but it also provides a valuable insight into the Amateur Radio community, demographics, club membership, use of Internet, use of Radio etc.

The survey covered holders of the three licence types — full, intermediate and foundation. The survey sought licensees' views on Ofcom's proposals and also provided information on the amateur radio community, such as membership of societies.
