Nokia WiMAX plans move forward with successful data call Nokia announced today that its Networks business group has completed
a data call as part of its WiMAX (802.16e) development program. WiMAX, which stands for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a standards-based wireless technology that provides high-throughput broadband connections over long distances. WiMAX can be used for a number of applications, including "last mile" broadband connections, hotspots and high-speed enterprise connectivity for business. The WiMAX IEEE 802.16e version is expected to be standardized later this year
