Super Gain NVIS Antenna

The following information appeared on the GQRP list. For those not aware, Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) involves the use of a frequency just below the critical frequency along with antennas that have a very high radiation angle to establish reliable communications over a radius of about 300 km.

To hear an example of NVIS communications try listening to the AMSAT-UK 80 metre net on Sundays at 10:00 local time on 3.780 MHz. The Net Controller Martin G3YJO uses an 80 metre inverted V optimised for high angle radiation.

This is an excellent antenna and it really works well.
Yes, it is only 7 to 8 ft off the ground, just high enough to clear your head.

Feed it with open wire line or 300 ohm ribbion cable to work on 80, 40 and 20 meters.

The counterpoise is required.
