Modify Poundshop FM Radios for 7 Mhz CW/SSB

The Poundshop chain of high-street stores sell an FM broadcast radio (88-108 MHz) for the princely sum of £1. These can be modified to become a Direct Conversion receiver for 7 MHz CW and SSB reception.

Pete Morris G1INF of Worthing, Sussex has written up his modification and the PDF can be downloaded from
http://www.gqrp.com/Poundshop_DC_RX.pdf

If you don't have a Poundshop near you then don't despair as I understand the company takes web orders.
Contact sales@poundshop.co.uk for more details.

Hans Summers G0UPL ordered the radios via the web, he says "I ordered three radios from the Poundshop. They all came in identical packaging but were three different style radios.

Internally the PCB's are using the same components but a different layout to suit the different button configuration in the three different styles. Two of the three have a "power" LED."

So it appears it doesn't matter which style of radio you get as the inards are nearly identical.
