Sky News to relaunch with new look and schedule on 24 October

London-based Sky News has confirmed the date of its much-anticipated relaunch as 24 October.

On that date, the free-to-air satellite channel will switch to 16:9 screen format, with new graphics and a new schedule.

Instead of a simple rolling news format, programmes will be more closely targeted at the different audiences that tune in throughout the day, each built around specific presenters.

A number of new presenters have been hired to augment the team, including former US State Department spokesman James Rubin who will present a programme of international news.

This will be the biggest overhaul of the station in its 16 year history.
