SOS National Radio Network -
Amateur Radio Newsline's Bill Pasternak WA6ITF comments

Its a great idea - one thats has been tried at least 9 times here in the USA over the past 40+ years - and one that has always fallen flat on its face.

The big problem in the USA is that the various public radio services - other than ham radio - have no cohesive central organization to represent their POLITICAL aspirations to the FCC and our Congress. Without such a structure, there is no reason for any radio hobbyist to care and he/she will not do
anything until the next emergency when that person is trapped on a rooftop during a flood - screaming for help.

Also, at least half the attempts to form such a cohesive group have been riddled with fraud. The Communications Atoirney Service run by the late Richard Breardsford Cooper, LlD, comes to mind. He got away with over $100 million US and disappeared to the middle-East.

I wish these new people good luck -- but I'll not hold my breath waiting.
