ERO report on proposed use of 9.5-17.5 MHz by Euroloop

The European Radiocommunications Office (ERO) have issued draft ECC Report 98 entitled - "Studying the compatibility issues of the UIC Euroloop System with other systems in the frequency band 9.5 to 17.5 MHz".

The Euroloop system would be used to provide train signalling information using a wideband HF transmission system feeding a leaky coaxial cable laid down in the inner or outer groove of the rail.

The proposal to use the frequencies between 9.5 and 17.5 MHz could have an adverse impact on these services:

· Amateur Services
· Broadcasting Services
· Military Services

The tables on page 10 of the report indicate that interference could occur within several kilometers of a railway line.

Comments on the draft report are invited from interested parties. These should be emailed to medeisis@ero.dk
The deadline for replies is 15th December 2006.
