GB3LR closed down due to car locking/alarm systems

GB3LR which served Newhaven and surrounding areas in Sussex has been closed down.

Troubled south coast repeater GB3LR was closed down on 26th October only weeks after commencing operation from its new site.

The problem is the blocking of car locking/alarm systems and the repeater was requested to be closed down by the new site owner.

Anyone applying for a repeater on the 70cm band must check that the proposed repeater parameters will not cause blocking of nearby car locking systems operating at 433MHz.

This practically rules out installations at residential
properties unless the location is well clear of neighbours.
