Ofcom consultation on assignment of interleaved TV frequencies

On Wednesday the UK regulator Ofcom published a technical consultation on the process for temporarily assigning analogue interleaved frequencies (470-862MHz) in a number of key metropolitan areas. This follows a request from the BBC.

Ofcom's consultation focuses on how to protect existing users of the spectrum from the technical impacts of any such assignment, using London as a case study for this test.

A temporary assignment of analogue interleaved frequencies could allow for the introduction of new high definition services on digital terrestrial television earlier than would be possible in some areas.

The consultation, which closes on 19 November 2008, can be found at:   http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/interleaveduhf/
