PMR Digital Voice

The PMR industry is pressing ahead with VHF and UHF systems providing Digital Voice in 6.25 kHz channel spacing using the NXDN™ standard.

The digital standard being adopted by the industry for Digital Voice seems to be NXDN™ Digital Modulation with a number of key manufacturers already supplying products.

NXDN™ is understood to be a trademark of Icom Incorporated and Kenwood Corporation.

6.25 kHz NXDN™ uses FDMA 4-level FSK modulation using the AMBE+2 voice codec and supports both voice and data.
