BDARA to host Borneo festival

Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA) will be hosting two major events, 'Borneo Amateur Radio Festival' next year and SEANET Convention in 2011.

This was stated by its president, Pg Salleh Ab Rahaman bin Pg Hj Damit at the BDARA Hari Raya Gathering 2009 last Saturday night in Jerudong.

He said the festival would also be participated by amateur radio members from Kalimantan, Indonesia. The SEANET Convention would give BDARA members the chance to learn and exchange expertise with members of the International Amateur Radio Union from other countries.

He added that all the BDARA members would be listed in the International Amateur Radio Union.

He urged BDARA members to unite, be committed and dedicated to developing the progress of the association through amateur radio. They could also help the government in promoting Brunei to the world.

It is also to help promote tourism through transmissions using Brunei radio.

This is the second time BDARA has organised the Hari Raya gathering since the association was reactivated.

The event aimed to foster closer relations among association and family members because most of the time, they only meet on the air.

He expressed his appreciation to organising committee members for the success of the event.

Awg Haji Mohd Saifuddin bin Dato Haji Mahalle, head of BDARA Social and Co-coordinating Activities said 21 members led by the president will be attending the Korea SEANET Convention 2009 in South Korea. They are expected to leave Brunei on Oct 22.
