EMC Journal - Greedy PLT
Issue 84 of the EMC Journal quotes some views of what EMC experts think about the Ofcom response to the PLT pollution problem
'Homeplug' type PLT devices are used to connect to the Internet, or link computers, by transmitting a powerful wideband signal down the household electrical mains supply. This signal is radiated over a considerable distance, in some cases well over 100 metres, causing pollution of the radio spectrum over a wide area and ruining peoples enjoyment of their favourite radio show.
On page 5 of the September/October issue of EMC Journal in an item titled 'Greedy PLT... opposition will not go away', they say -
OFCOM... shows contempt, is disingenuous, not fit for purpose and high time it was kicked into touch, replace it with a real organisation that have a better understanding of its responsibilities and ensure it enforces same.
On page 43 there is a first-class PLT article titled -
'A low level of complaints is not evidence of compliance'
In order to download the free PDF copies of the journal it is necessary to register on the website and fill in some words in the usual fields. Registration is instant and although it asks for an email address, nothing is sent there as part of the registration process.
