Indian Amateur visits GX0MWT
at Science and Discovery Day
Each year the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) run
a demonstration station GX0MWT
for the Science & Discovery Day at the Chelmsford Science and Industry Museum. This year they had a visit from Ganesan Ananthaganesan, VU3GPF
The event took place at Sandford Mill on September 27, 2009 and CARS had been invited by Chelmsford Borough Council to provide an Amateur Radio Station. Two stations were run, one from the 2MT hut inside the museum and the other from a caravan kindly supplied by Mark, M0IEO.
A Morse demonstration display was also provided by Colin, G0TRM, and Peter, G4OAD, which attracted much interest.
During the day over 1,000 visitors saw the Amateur Radio demonstrations. One of the vsitors was Ganesan Ananthaganesan, VU3GPF, President, Anamalai Amateur Radio Club (AARC), Pollachi, India.
Norman Crampton, M0FZW, had made contact with Ganesan, VU3GPF, who was in the UK at the invitation of the British Council. He was able to bring Ganesan to the Sandford Mill event where he was invited to be an Honorary Member of CARS by Chairman, John Bowen, G8DET, and presented with a CARS hat and mug. In exchange Ganesan presented John with a Indian hand crafted dish with a Peacock on it.
