GB2CDS Colchester District Scouts active for JOTA

Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) station GB2CDS (Colchester District Scouts) will be active on HF and the Amateur Radio Satellites HO-68 and AO-51 on October 16/17, and they would particularly welcome any contacts with Sweden.

Kevan 2E0WMG of the Colchester Radio Amateurs (CRA) writes:

We welcome any contact but in particular we will be looking to make as many contacts as possible with Sweden as well as other JOTA Stations.

The station is located in Thorrington near Colchester Essex in Southern England. Eighteen Scouts at the station will be attending the World Jamboree in Rinkaby Nr Kristianstad Sweden in July 2011 where 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will be in attendance. The Scouts are looking forward to their visit and have been practising phrases in Swedish which they hope to put to use during their contacts.

The Station will be active around the Scout frequencies of 3.690MHz and 7.090MHz SSB on the Saturday night for around two hours from around midnight local time (2300 UTC) as well as looking to make contacts through the HO-68 Amateur Satellite on its pass at 22.36 UTC on the 16th as well as AO-51 at 04.40 UTC and 06.19 UTC on the morning of the 17th. They will be active around the above frequencies again on the Sunday morning from 06.00 local time.
