Happy birthday Ippy

This year the city of Ipswich (that's the one in Australia not England) is celebrating 150 years since being declared a
municipality and the WIA is also celebrating its 100 years in 2010.

To mark this double celebration the Ipswich and District Radio Club is holding a special presentation and BBQ next Saturday October 23rd at 11am which Mayor Paul Pisasale will attend.

Club President Michael Charteris VK4QS said other special guests will include Director of the WIA Ewan McLeod and Ipswich councillors.

Highlights will include the presentation to Mayor Pisasale of the book “HALCYON DAYS”, Amateur Radio in Queensland from its earliest days to Pre-World War Two, written by Mr. Alan Shawsmith VK4SS, aged 93.

Also on the day the mayor will be inducted as an “Honorary Vice President of the Ipswich and District Radio Club and receive a special certificate, and there will be the cutting of the “Dual Commemorative Cake ” Ipswich 150 years ~ WIA 100 years.
