Hobby Electronics UOSAT article

Nearly 30 years ago Hobby Electronics published an article on the UK Amateur Radio satellite UOSAT 1.

UOSAT 1, also known as Oscar 9, was launched on October 6, 1981. It was the first Amateur Radio satellite to carry phase referenced HF beacons for the 7, 14, 21 and 28 MHz bands.

HF Beacon Frequencies: 7.001, 14.001, 21.001, 28.001
VHF Beacon: 145.825 MHz, CW, audio frequency shift keying
UHF Beacon: 435.025 MHz, CW, audio frequency shift keying
Microwave Beacons: 2401 MHz and 10470 MHz

The satellite operated for 9 years before it re-entered the earth's atmosphere on October 13, 1989.

The article was published in the August 1981 issue of Hobby
Electronics magazine and can now be seen at
