Indian 40m ReceiverSWL Tushar Gupta in Bangalore has posted a video showing reception of the 40m Charminar Net using his homemade JOTA 40 Rx. He writes: Today I had another wonderful experience with my JOTA 40Rx. Since the last week when I activated it, I could listen to a lot of "Lightning" Speed CW stations, I could not hear any SSB stations. Then yesterday, I was reminded of the phenomena called "The Charminar Net", I quickly got hold of the frequency as well as the timings for the same. Got up 1 hour early i.e. 0600 Hrs IST. By 0630 I was ready with the battery and the Rx on the roof top and the Antenna connected, 0700 hrs and 7080MHz (the Rx did not have freq marking; I calculated total sweep of knob / by frequency range in band * 80 = degree sweep for 7080 MHz). As I had never heard SSB on my Rx I was a bit sceptical on the possibility, but I still wanted to conduct the experiment. Then 0700 Hrs bang on time OM VU2PEB (Pradeep, Trivandram) announced the commencement of The Charminar Net and called stations to check in. I read him 59+.This was my first experience of a net. There were around 80 stations who checked in. For the first time I heard YLs on the air, The one I remember is YL VU2NIS. Just as I was convinced with the performance of my Rx, I sent an SMS report to the designer of JOTA 40 Rx OM VU2DEV and got a Congrats in reply. I also displayed the performance of my Rig to my friends in Jalandhar - Bhilai and my brother in Dehradun over mobile phone. This was a truly great experience. 73 to all and looking forward to listen to a lot many NETS and Conversations. Watch - Charminaar net 10 10 10.3gp JOTA 40 Rx, a homebrew Receiver for 40m / 7Mhz band of Amateur Radio. Designed by OM VU2DEV. In this video SWL Tushar Gupta is Listening to the Charminar Net, going on 7080 MHz between 0700-0830 IST. Signal report is 59+. I must say it is the best an SWL can get (Easy to build and most economic). VU2DEV Indian SDR software defined radio
