Time running out for VK100WIA and WIA Centenary Award

The special callsign for the Centenary of Organised Amateur Radio in Australia, VK100WIA, will go QRT at 2359 hours Canberra time, Sunday 31 October.

It first went to air on 14 May, with the initial operator being the WIA President, Michael Owen VK3KI, then for the rest of that month it was operated by, or on behalf of the WIA.

Since then, under a system of three-day roster slots, around 50 clubs have activated VK100WIA, working more than 100 DX Entities and amassing close to 25,000 contacts.

The final slot on the roster goes to the Westlakes Amateur Radio Club, operating from its club rooms at Teralba, New South Wales.

Contact with VK100WIA was also required for the the limited issue WIA Centenary Award.

Check out the award rules and the VK100WIA online log both at www.wia.org.au
