Latest ARISS Contact from Space

On 18 September, astronaut Mike Fincke, KE5AIT, on board the International Space Station, took part in an ARISS contact with DL0ESA, the European Space Operations Centre club station in Darmstadt.

The radio contact started at 1854UTC and the ISS downlink could be heard on 145.800MHz FM. The Operations Centre was open to the public on that day and it was expected that thousands of visitors would attend. The ARISS contact was relayed live on Echolink and a recording of Mike talking to the station in Germany has been uploaded to the website of Ian Abel, G3ZHI.

A week earlier, on 11 September, Mike Fincke became the first International Space Station crew member, and the third astronaut, to contact all seven of the world's continents by amateur radio when he worked KC4AAC on Antarctica. Back in 1992, two astronauts on board the space shuttle also worked Antarctica to complete their ‘Worked All Continents' list. Audio of Mike Fincke's Antarctica contact can be heard on the ARRL website.
