Comment sought on new Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan

The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) called for public comment this week on a new draft of the Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan.

The plan is being updated to incorporate changes made to international frequency allocations at the 2003 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Radiocommunication Conference. The new plan will come into effect on 1 January to replace the 2002 version.

ACA Acting Chairman Dr Bob Horton said services to be provided with more opportunities included the amateur, radiolocation, aeronautical radionavigation and aeronautical mobile services.

A package of information about the changes, and copies of the draft plan are available on the ACA website.

The closing date for comments is 15 October 2004.
