Contests, Awards and Special Events
Chris Edmondson VK4AA/VK3CE

This Saturday, October 2, has one of the biggies, the Oceania DX Contest for SSB, and the Oceania DX Contest for CW follows one week later.

October 23 hosts the Dash for the Wadda Cup, which is
one of the more light-hearted contests of the calendar.

An early mention now for a hotly-contested joust in mid-
November, with the VHF/UHF Spring Field Day on November 13 and 14. Note too that the biggest item on the VHF and UHF calendar in Australia, the Ross Hull Memorial VHF Contest, runs its marathon course between December 26 and January 10 next year.

Seeing it's being held this weekend, this morning I navigated over to the Oceania DX Contest web site at www.oceaniadxcontest.com, only to find that its server has experienced some sort of major equipment malady.
But rather than just leave you with a blank screen, the organisers have put a temporary diversion in place to
the NZARTs 68th Oceania DX pages.

It's worth going there for a look, too, for the NZART has put in one place a mountain of computer logging software programs, any of which suits the requirements of this contest and, doubtless, many others as well.

There are several commercial and freeware programs available on the site for free download. So head to www.oceaniadxcontest.com and you'll be promptly diverted to the temporary site in New Zealand.

So perhaps we'll hear you on the original HF bands, next weekend, 0800 Zulu Saturday until 0800 Zulu Sunday.
Good luck!
