INTECNET TO FOCUS ON APRS

The next Intecnet will be part of the annual International Space week which runs from 4 - 10 October. Various activities are being planned for that week culminating in a discussion on APRS.

The guest speaker will be Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, the father of APRS. Ever since the beginnings of packet radio in the late seventies, Bob wrote software that combined the flexibility of packet radio with the dynamics of real-time events. Bob's years of toiling at a variety of computer boards came to a climax when he completed developing the first version of APRS Dos in 1992.

Join Bob for an in-depth discussion on APRS, the beginnings, the ins and outs and its satellite application. The date is 10 October 2004 at 20:00. Clubs are invited to make early arrangements to link their repeaters and celebrate International Space Week with an exciting APRS talk show.

To book a link send an email to armi@sarl.org.za with details of your club, repeater and telephone number to be linked.
