Japan's NHK to cut workforce as over a million refuse to pay feesJapanese public broadcaster NHK has announced that it plans to cut its workforce by 1,200, approximately 10% of the total, over three years starting in fiscal 2006. The reason is falling income as the number of households refusing to pay the licence fee in the wake of financial scandals at NHK reached 1.17 million as of 31 July, and is still rising.
