Orienteering for Radio Hams
The RSGB's Amateur Radio Direction Finding Committee is holding the first British direction finding championship on the 13th of November this year. The championship will be run on the 144MHz band in accordance with International Amateur Radio Union rules. Direction finding is the amateur radio equivalent of orienteering, The objective is to locate transmitters – or foxes, as they are called - using radio techniques and then visit them on foot as quickly as possible. Participants in the British championship will be expected to use amateur
radio direction finding techniques to pinpoint and visit five transmitters
dotted around a large area of forest. More information on the championship
can be found on the Amateur
Radio Direction Finding Committee's website. Source: GB2RS News - Courtesy of the RSGB
