Special Event Station ZS1SALT

The official opening of the "South African Large Telescope", situated near Sutherland, will take place on 10 November 2005.

To bring this to the attention of radio amateurs world wide, the Boland Amateur Radio Club will run a special event station with the call sign ZS1SALT from the SALT site. Activity will be on all HF bands.

For security reasons the station can only be operated on the time slot 21 to 23 October 2005. Thus, listen out for ZS1SALT over this weekend.

QSL cards can be sent directly, with the necessary return postage, to ZS1SALT PO Box 273, Strand, 7139. Only those direct QSLs with the required return postage will be answered.

South African amateurs can make use of the electronic QSL service of the SARL to confirm contacts with ZS1SALT. Visit www.salt.ac.za for more information about the South African Large Telescope.
