Special Event News The famous old Grimeton Radio station near Varberg in Sweden will be making additional transmissions on Sunday 25 September between 0930UTC and 1230UTC. The transmissions will be on 17.2kHz VLF. The callsign is SAQ. Grimeton Radio is one of only a very few surviving pre-electronic transmitter for trans-Atlantic work. It was granted World Heritage status last year. Special event station DQ44FK is active until September 19th for the 44th congress of the International Association of Railway Radio Amateurs, being held at Rantum on the German island of Sylt . The Eggardon Hill Kite Festival is taking place on 18 September near Askerswell in Dorset . John Illsley, G2FHF, and fellow amateur radio kite enthusiasts are operating a special event station, GB0EHK, at the festival. The station is operated using kite antennas and is on most HF bands – both SSB and CW. The station is on air from 0930UTC onwards. A special QSL card is available for this event. QSL to G2FHF. The Pearl River DX Association is operating special event station W2WTC to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York . The club will operate throughout September on all bands - SSB only. Radio hams from the French Correze area are on the air with the special callsign TM5MEM until 26 September to celebrate the French Heritage Days .
