WIA's 40M band plan review update

Our review of the current 40m band plan is proceeding on schedule.

One point I would like to make is that SSB operation below 7100 kHz will not be effected by the new band plan. No nets will have to shift frequency.

We have had a number of responses to the review, including a very well considered input from digital mode operators.

One early idea was to expand the current digital segment upwards by 10 kHz to 7050, however, that plan has been shelved because of the potential to interfere with European SSB DX.

We are considering a wide band digital modes segment around 7180, with a specific sub-band for unattended WINLINK type systems. The challenge is to position this segment to align with the US band plan, which is also under
review.

And, of course, there is still an intention to create newcomer nets for Foundation Licensees above 7200 kHz.

More information as it comes to hand.
