Canadian 30 metre propagation beacon now on the air

Freq : 10132.0 kHz
Call : VE3TO/B
Operation : Continuous while attended but Monday to Friday only (0000 UTC Monday to 2400 Fiday)
Output power : 5 W at present (planning to increase to 10 W at a later time)

Planned outage : The beacon will be off during the week beginning 18 Sep due to other activities. (It won't be practical to turn it on and off and on and off, as permitted, so I will just leave it off.) Full operation will resume on 25 Sep.

The low power and weekdays-only schedule is in consideration of our friends in IARU Region 1 where the band is much more densely occupied and beacons are discouraged.

If reception in Europe and Africa is weak (or less), I will be more inclined to proceed with the power increase as I doubt that 3 dB will add much to the potential for interference there but it might add to the possibility of weak signal reception. I'll wait and see.

I have already advised Martin Harrison, G3USF, the IARU Region 1 Beacon Coodinator, of the new beacon.

There is a little write-up on the beacon at
