Cycle Queensland's annual 9 day bike ride

This year the ride is starting from Port Douglas on the 9th of September, weaving its way through the Tablelands then down the range to finish at Mission Beach on the 17th.

10 Radio Amateurs are making the trip up from the Brisbane area , one from Bundaberg and they will have able help from the Tablelands club and from the Cairns Group.

Ed Newman VK4 JEN says they'll carry 3 portable VHF repeaters, all of which can crosslink via uhf to give further coverage.

One or more may be required each day until they get coverage from the Tablelands Repeater at Longlands gap.

The two RF challenging day's will be from Mossman through to Mareeba and from Innisfail down to Tully where the route follows in the shadow of the range (not the highway ) and is shielded from the coastal hills.

Most operators will also have mobile HF if required.
