Quality Radio loses lawsuit over loss of AM frequenciesDutch commercial broadcasting company Quality Radio has failed in its attempt to persuade a court in Rotterdam to reverse the decision of the Dutch Radicommunications Authority to withdraw four AM licences for 828, 1035, 1224 and 1557 kHz. Quality Radio argued that it had been unable to find suitable transmission sites, and could not reach a satisfactory agreement with transmitter operator Nozema Services. The court found that this was a business problem and the responsibility for solving it lay with Quality Radio itself. Quality Radio also said it wanted to start broadcasting shortly on 828 kHz, but the judge said that this was not supported by concrete evidence. Quality Radio’s Director Ruud Poeze said he was not giving up the fight, and there were still several courses of action to explore. Quality Radio has also sent an objection directly to the Radiocommunications Agency, which says it expects to make a decision on the objection within four weeks. Source: Media Network
