Young M3 shows the wayMatthew, M3LIX, was one of the successful candidates from the Colchester Radio Amateurs (CRA) Foundation assessment day held last October. He recently submitted an article for publication to 'Monitor', the monthly
magazine of the ISWL. The following is a summary of Matthews’s activities
since then based on Matthew thought it would be a good idea to establish a Radio Club at
his Anglo European School. He wrote to his Headmaster who supported the
idea and asked the staff for help. As luck would have it, Mike, a science
teacher, was Thanks to Matthew’s enthusiasm plus the support of Mike and Ulrich, six out of seven candidates passed the required assessments on July 19th. Unfortunately the Headmaster died suddenly just before the Club got up and running. In recognition of his enterprise, Matthew has been given a Jack Petchey Award, this award is given in schools and youth organisations to reward initiative within the community. As the new school term gets underway, the new M3’s will be on-air using equipment won on e-bay. The students have built a trapped dipole (with a few teething problems which they will no doubt overcome). Future plans include a new antenna and a PSK station. I am sure that readers will wish Matthew and his fellow students well for the future with the School Station. Congratulations to him for his hard work and persistence. Well done Matthew.
