3B7C
preparations nearly complete
The 3B7C St Brandon Island DXpedition is getting closer.
Following the advance party of Neville, G3NUG, Don, G3BJ and Don, G3XTT,
the remainder of the team expect to arrive on Isle du Sud on the 4th of
September.
Due to the complexity of the stations being set up, operations are expected
to commence at midnight UTC on 7 September.
However, the 6m beacon on 50.090MHz will be activated at the earliest
opportunity so that 6m DXers can start to monitor for possible openings.
The beacon will be kept operational at all times, and when there is any
sign of propagation they will change to manual mode, and call CQ. Their
6m antenna is a 7-element long yagi at the water's edge.
They have experienced 6 metre operators, and will be doing their best
to provide as many QSOs as possible on this band. There will not be any
data operation on 6m
50.090 - our CW beacon
50.102 - our CW working frequency
50.145 - our SSB frequency
Other than their radio gear, contact with the outside world is limited
to an Iridium satphone which will be used primarily for uploading logs.
