International Pumping Stations on the Air

The first International Pumping Stations on the Air event was held over the August bank holiday weekend and was a huge success.

It was organized by Burton Amateur Radio Club and operated from Claymills Pumping Station. 12 stations registered to get involved in this new event. 128 stations contacted the club over the weekend, 79 on 2m and 49 on HF (SSB and CW).

Their greatest distance was WN3R, Richard, in Rockville MD, USA on 20m SSB. Everyone who took part will receive a special event QSL card via the bureau.

Club Secretary, Steve Warren, 2E0KPO, commented that he was pleased by the amount of pumping stations that took part and the number of visitors to the event.

Now the group know the event was a success they are going to make arrangements for awards next year. They are planning on operating on the August bank holiday again next year.
