This weekend, 22nd and 23rd of September, on the foreshore of the city of Newcastle, Australia, we will be celebrating the Centenary of Scouting, by staging a regional camp.

Over three thousand youth members, including Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers, leaders and parent helpers have already registered. The Activities will also be open to the public.

I have organised a Amateur Radio Station as one of the activities that the attendees will be able to participate in.

The station VK2SOA will be running as a Special Event Station for the Scouting 100 Award and thus will attract 2 points.

Operators on the day will include myself, VK2FGCV (scouting member, 1 point) Karen, VK2FKRN as well as Paul, VK2FPAC.

Contact us via Echolink using the repeater VK2RNC-R on 146.975 MHz Node number 1474 or via 2m radio simplex on 146.500 MHz between 00:00 Zulu and 06:00 Zulu (10:00am to 4:00pm local time) on both Saturda and Sunday.

Looking forward to exchanging 100 award points with you then!

Gianni VK2FGCV
