WiMAX radios tested by the German armed forces

Defence Systems Daily reports that SELEX Communications military WiMAX Tactical Radios have been tested by the Joint WiMAX WRS504-N Forces Support Group (JSFG) in Rheinbach, Germany.

The Defence Systems Daily report says that in one Line of Sight (LOS)-Link the system transmitted very reliable 2 Mbps over a distance of 18.5 km. Even in a non-line-of-sight link, with a distance of 8 km, the system showed a stable transmission speed of 1 Mbps.

Various companies have developed systems using the WiMAX standard for the 5.8, 3.5 and 2.4 GHz bands.
