GB3OK and GB3LK

Hi, as some of you may be aware, GB3OK and GB3LK repeaters have been back on air for some time now.

Having said that 'OK' has not been working as well as it should have! So much so that Tony, G1HIG (the repeater keeper), has had it running on 1 watt to prevent the horrible noises and at least maintain some form of service on VHF in the local area.

It was decided that the only things remaining to change and try to cure the problems was the feeder and the antenna.

Tony had another antenna identical to that at the site, which when it was inspected proved to be full of manufacturer defects!!!

So after plenty of 'adjustments' the antenna and a suitable length of very low loss cable were taken to the site.
Dave G7AKM, Derek M1NTY, Paul M0XLD (and Murphy), Tony G1HIG and myself all met at the site to do the big change.

The replacement of the parts went very well, and after turning the repeaters back on, we discovered the 'ring round' had returned to 'LK' on UHF. An additional 3db attenuator was added and the power levels of both repeaters adjusted and instantly reports came in - all very favourable!

Both the VHF and UHF repeaters have been fully functional, without any 'hiccups' for nearly a week now, so fingers crossed, they are back to where they belong.

Further, more in depth details can be found on GB3OK.com, such as cable used etc.

If you get the opportunity please do call through either repeater and let us know what you think - that invitation is world wide as GB3LK is also an Echolink node.
Look forward to hearing you.
