ARISS contact planned with school of ESA competition winner in Belgium

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Vrije Basisschool, De Haan, Belgium.
The event is scheduled on 3 September 2009
at 07:42 UTC, which is 09:42 CEST.

The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and VK4KHZ. The contact is expected to be conducted in Dutch.

The ARISS contact will be distributed on EchoLink *AMSAT* and *JK1ZRW* conference servers, as well as on IRLP Discovery Channel 9010.

The school is located in De Haan, a sea-side resort on the North Sea. The school has 300 students. Sea air offers healthy environment and favours activities for the children. The school pays attention to the child on all facets and develops themes and projects. They appreciate new areas of knowledge and develop active approach.

One of the students - Iman - was among the winners of the ESA T-Shirt drawing competition for the OasISS mission. This ARISS contact is the prize and all class mates participate.

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
