DRM Consortium to present complete global standard at IBC

The Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium will present the complete global DRM standard at IBC in Amsterdam this week which comprises DRM+ for broadcasting at frequencies up to 174 MHz and which obtained ETSI approval at the end of August, and DRM30 for broadcasting on frequencies up to 30MHz.

At the DRM Consortium’s annual IBC networking event which, this year, takes place on Friday 11 September at the IBC Beach, senior members of the Consortium will make presentations on recent DRM developments including the availability of commercial receivers.

Guests will hear updates from countries such as India and Russia where DRM30 has been officially declared as the system of choice for digital switchover and reports from the recent DRM+ test transmissions that took place in Paris.

There will be live demos of the complete DRM standard where its unique features including Surround Sound can be experienced first hand and guests will be able to listen to the live broadcast of the BBC-DW DRM channel for Europe.

The event will also be an opportunity for industry players to network and discuss the current state of the digital radio industry worldwide. Leading figures from radio markets in Europe, South Korea, Russia and China are expected to attend.

DRM members exhibiting at IBC this year include Digidia, Fraunhofer IIS, Nautel, RIZ Transmitters, Thomson Broadcast & Multimedia and TRANSRADIO.
