New multi-standard digital radio module

The first digital radio module that includes France's DMB-Radio standard has been announced, by the UK company Frontier Silicon.

France chose to adopt DMB-Radio rather than DAB+ due to it's potential multi-media facilities despite DAB+ offering a greater choice of stations or higher quality audio.

The French government has mandated that all radio receivers, including car radios, must be equipped with a DMB-Radio tuner by September 2013.

Frontier Silicon's Venice 7 also supports the DAB and DAB+ standards and FM but significantly it does not support either AM or the narrow band Digital Radio standard DRM which was developed for the Medium and Short Wave bands.
