Joanna Lumley takes
to the airwaves to celebrate the birth of Robert Burns.
On the 20th September 2009 GB250RB was activated by the Wigtonshire Amateur Radio Club from Ellisland Farm near Dumfries at a
Ploughing Match.
The highlight of the station's day was when actress and comedienne Joanna Lumley - star of the BBC tv hit comedy series 'Absolutely Fabulous' - visited the operating area, and passed a greeting on the the 40m band to a pecial event station GB2HEN operated by Dave M1TWO in Suffolk.
Joanna was also presented with a piece of Burns Crystal to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of Robert Burns birth by Arthur MM0DHQ Chairman of KLARC.
Wigtonshire ARC were assisted by members of Kilmarnock and Loudoun Amateur Radio Club, who hold the licence for the GB250RB call-sign.
The call-sign is in use during 2009 till the 31st of December from locations that have a connection with Burns.
