Missing recording of last amateur 56 MHz transmissionsIn 1949 the 5 metre band (56 MHz) was taken away from UK Radio Amateurs and allocated to TV broadcasting. Jack Hum G5UM had a gramophone recording of the last evening's transmissions on the band, but its whereabouts is now unknown. Roger G3XBM writes: Many years ago Jack Hum G5UM attended the Cambridge club and talked about VHF. Many will remember him as columnist for "Four Metres and Down". During the talk he mentioned a gramophone disc being cut recording the very last night on 56MHz in the London area. Does anyone know what happened to this most historic recording? When Jack died, did someone in the Leicester area go through his possessions and see it? This would be a wonderful item of ham history if it could be located. 73s Roger G3XBM
